Practice days and weekend sesshins are offered regularly for all members. One might ask what a practice day or a sesshin is.

  • Practice Day
A practice day is a time set aside to come together as sangha/community and together review our practice and renew our aspirations and intentions. This includes time for zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), chanting, and dharma dialog.
  • Sesshin
The Japanese word sesshin means to touch the heart-mind, and that is our intention during our Zen retreats or sesshins. In Zen, we practice as a group – sometimes online – for these retreats and support one another through our practice together.

Upcoming events and our calendar can be found here. For information about participating in online or in-person meetings, practice days, retreats, and other offerings, please email Hokyo Ellen Swan.
